Lava Blocks, Scortched Trees and Ash Deposits from a fresh Pyroclastic Flow
Location:
Northeast Flank of Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica
Notes:
Image made while hiking on the mountain in a restricted hazard area. The Pyroclastic Flow had occurred only a week earlier, and many of the blocks were still warm to the touch. A small, ash eruption is emanating from the summit. Taken while working on the show "Volcano Hunters" for National Geographic Television.
